We’re excited to announce our partnership with The Range, the fastest growing retailer in the UK with over 200 stores nationwide, to turn millions of square feet of warehouse rooftops into a massive distributed power plant network.
For companies like The Range, who are committed to reducing their operational carbon footprint while hedging against the volatile energy market, on-site solar presents a great opportunity to achieve both. Working together, we’ve been able to maximise that opportunity through our unique, up-sized and networked approach.
The up-sized, power network opportunity
Working with The Range beyond just on-site generation for self-consumption, their solar installations are up-sized to generate maximum power. The surplus generation from each of their warehouses is then supplied within the InRange network: Not only to nearby large energy buyers, but also to other The Range sites that have unmet energy needs.
By participating in the InRange network, The Range has been able to sell surplus generation to large energy buyers and unlock more value, faster, from every square foot of warehouse space than with any other partner. This strategy could shrink electricity bills across the portfolio by at least 25%, while connecting those large energy buyers with a new energy asset supplier.
Alex Simpkin, The Range CEO said; “We’re on a journey to become a ‘Net Zero’ business. Our partnership with InRange is a real demonstration of our commitment, and has really sped up our efforts, meaning we can already see immediate benefits for both us as a business and as a positive impact on our local communities.”

A partnership for scale
The partnership between The Range and InRange, as well as InRange’s platform, are built for scale. InRange has made it simple for The Range by automating and streamlining every aspect of the energy procurement workflow.
InRange generates instant offers across an entire portfolio of sites, making it easier to make fast, data-driven decisions based on accurate energy and financial forecasts. With repeatable contracting processes, InRange is able to accelerate approval across the Range’s diverse set of sites and landlords, saving both time and money in traditionally complex legal processes.
InRange’s operational efficiencies in procurement and working with Tier 1 partners get solar installed faster, and the optimised energy distribution across the InRange network maximises the value of generated power. By disrupting every facet of the energy enablement journey, InRange slashed time and costs across the board by at least 25%, and the first Range site generated electrons within only 8 months.
John Mushriqui, CEO of InRange said, “We’re excited to work with The Range, empowering them to achieve their financial, economic, and environmental targets.
“It’s refreshing to see one of the UK’s largest retailers have the ambition to leverage their buildings as a retail energy network. It’s our mission to accelerate the roll out of on-site generation to their portfolio and achieve their ambitions.”
The Range is the fastest growing retailer in the UK, with over 200 stores across the UK, with over 140,000 products across 16 different departments. The Range is publicly committed to achieving the highest standard of environmental performance, recognising its corporate responsibility to the environment.
InRange is streamlining the entire renewable energy procurement process, unlocking new revenue streams for landlords and saving energy costs for tenants. The InRange platform provides guaranteed 10-year fixed export tariffs, with AI-powered matching of surplus energy to data centre and other in-network building demand through the InRange Marketplace.
